You wade into a dark subterranean pool, torchlight flickering against ancient stone of a crumbling cathedral.

You feel something brush against your foot; cold, sinewy, alive. The water ripples, carrying a scent that strikes first like salt on steel, then deepens into kelp and brine, thick with secrets.
